Surveyors have revealed the UK housing market has benefitted from an increase in activity this new year and are cautiously optimistic of the boost continuing.

Research from one of the country’s leading mortgage lenders, Nationwide, shows property prices rose by 0.5% in November, the biggest increase since July 2018. According to the building society, the average price of a house in the UK is now £215,734. Despite the perhaps slightly better than expected rise, the overall property market remains fairly stagnant, with overall prices increasing just 0.8% over the year. Indeed, Nationwide said economic uncertainty and Brexit has taken its toll on the market.
